Lovin my Liebster Award

I’m flattered to receive a Liebster Award from the lovely The Other Side 97! Please take a moment to check out her blog – it’s chock full of inspirational quotes & stories.

If you haven’t heard of the Liebster Award before, here’s the general idea: it’s an online award given from one blogger to another. It’s a great way for smaller blogs to get some love and connect with each other. Everyone who receives a Liebster has to answer their award-ees questions, and then select 10 other bloggers to answer 10 questions of their own 🙂

Here’s The Other Side’s Questions!

1. When and why did you start blogging?

I started blogging about a year ago, mostly to keep in touch with family and keep writing. I was a journalism major when I first started college, so I’m happy to have an avenue to keep working on my writing. It’s a huge passion of mine, and I love sharing my stories and travels and connecting with other like-minded bloggers.

2. What is your favourite activity?

My favorite activity is surfing! I spend as much time in the water as I possibly can – before or after work, on my lunch break, and all day during the weekend. It makes me happy on a mental, physical, and spiritual level; it connects me with myself, the water, and the universe around me. Plus, it’s something my fiance and I share, which is a central part of our relationship. We both have the same love and passion, and to share it with each other is a precious thing.

3. If you could do anything in the world, what would it be?

If I could do anything, I would travel the world. I travel as much as I can, but I’d love to do it for the rest of my life.

4. If you had to live with one type of food for the rest of your life, which one would it be and why?

Cereal! I know it’s not the healthiest – but I can never get enough! It’s my number one cheat meal, night cap, dessert, you name it – I particularly like Peanut Butter Puffins from Barbara’s Bakery.

5. Favourite song and why?

My favorite song is You Got Me by the Roots & Erykah Badu – I’ve loved it for as long as I can remember. It’s got the perfect mix of romance, reality, and soul, and Erykah Badu is one of my favorite artists.

6. What keeps you motivated to do what you do?

My athletic past keeps me motivated. I’ve always been an athlete and even played for a few years in college, so being in shape is second nature. Now that I’m on my own, though, I’m happy to shape my own fitness goals and have the time to make them happen.

7. What’s your favourite book?

My favorite book is The Bell Jar by Silvia Plath. It’s a funny, witty and a little depressing, but I’ve been through some of those issues so it truly touches my soul. I’ve read it at least a dozen times and love Plath’s writing style – I studied her work in college as much as possible!

8. What’s your favourite holiday destination so far and where do you want to go next?

So far, my favorite destination is a tie between northern Italy and Bali, Indonesia. I loved Italy, but there’s nowhere to surf; in contrast, Bali has a special place in my heart. It was me and my fiance’s first trip out of the country, and it was absolutely incredible. We surfed some of the best waves in the world, met awesome people, and it’s where we got my engagement ring. In fact, although we’ve already been there, we’re seriously considering going back for our honeymoon.

9. What is the one thing or person you cannot live without?

The one thing I can’t live without is the water. The one person I can’t live without, of course, is my fiance (how have I ended up talking about him so much in this post??) Thankfully, the two are also connected, and a big part of who I am and who I’ve become.

10. And finally, a little bit about yourself!

Hmmm…what have I not covered? I guess I’m a laid-back, happy hippie at heart. I love being eco-friendly, vegetarian and almost vegan, cooking, surfing, running and lifting. I spend most of my free time in the water and exploring the beautiful island I call home 🙂 and I’m always happy to connect with other lovely ladies and read their blogs!

Now, here’s my nominations:

Sarah from A Whisk and Two Wands

Ginger from Mini Me Wannabe

Tiffany from The Chai-Athlete

Nevie from Writing Reading Running

Here are my questions:

1. What motivated you to start blogging?

2. What’s your favorite way to get fit?

3. If money was no object, where in the world would you go?

4. What’s your motivation to stay fit?

5. What’s your favorite post-workout meal?

6. Favorite quote and why?

7. What’s your biggest passion in life?

8. Where do you see yourself in a year?

9. Are you a cat or dog person?

10. What’s your favorite thing about blogging?

I look forward to your answers and finding out more about you lovely ladies!
