One of the things I miss the most about the mainland is road trips. California’s a pretty big state, so a few hours in either direction can open up a whole new vibe, culture and little world.
Along with Mexican food and friends, what I truly miss is family. I’m blessed with a fabulous family, and it’s tough living so far away.
I have an amazing side of my family about five hours away in Fresno, California. Because of working, soccer tournaments and living in Hawaii, I haven’t seen them in nine years. NINE YEARS! I can’t believe even old enough to not have seen them in so long.
Thankfully, my trip worked out perfectly because I was able to go to my wonderful, unique, and quite amazing cousin’s baby shower. It was surreal seeing everyone after so long and spending some time with them!
It was also a kickass baby shower. And probably had the funniest gift is ever seen. I had no idea you could buy prank gift boxes on Amazon – and this one is beyond amazing.
There was an equally hilarious gift for the groom, too.
The theme was dragons (unique, right?) and we played totally different games than I did at other showers. My favorite was the ‘name that dragon game,” where we guessed the movies and dragons from a bunch of pictures. It might be my favorite because I won – but hey, it was fun. I also loved my prize and dragon-themed favors.
I’m so stoked I finally got to go – and that I got to share all the news about my graduation and engagement. And, of course, the upcoming wedding 🙂
I’m so blessed to be able to visit, even if it’s not as often as I’d like.
